 Capoiera

by slaves from Angola. This graceful yet deadly dance will
give you agility, strength, and mobility while taking you into

Day 1
Ben-Vindo! Welcome to Salvador! You will be greeted
by your host at the airport and driven to your new home in
Salvador da Bahia. While you get acclimated, take the
day to relax and enjoy the sites and sounds of your new neighborhood.
Day 2
A morning swim is a refreshing way to start your day. Be
amongst the many Baianos who start their day with a soothing
sea bath. Eat a big breakfast and gather your strength
for your Capoeira class, you’ll need it. This
martial art will leave you awe stuck at the fluidity of the
Capoeristas. Beautiful, graceful and deadly describes
this masterful art form. Spend the rest of the day
relaxing because tonight we get a little taste of the Salvador
underground. Hear the latest in Brazilian lounge and
drink some sophisticated cocktails while you dance the night
away.
Day 3
Salvador City Tour
Get to know the colonial side of Salvador through our amazing
city tour. Salvador is the soul of Brazil and was the nation’s
first capital. It is also home to some of the oldest and
best preserved baroque churches in South America. While walking
through the bustling streets, our fist stop will be the historic
Pelourinho neighborhood. Here, we will visit important churches
such as Igreja do Sao Francisco and Igreja dos Pratos, the
first Afro-Brazilian church built in Brazil. We will also
highlight the numerous museums and visit local art galleries
to see how artists capture the energy of Salvador. Take in
the colors and explore your new city at the pace of a Baiano.
With numerous cafes, restaurants and beautiful photo opportunities,
this community will surely make you feel at home.
Day 4
Test your skills in today’s Roda where you battle
your opponent with your newfound fluid moves. This
display of camaraderie and competitiveness is a great way
to connect with fellow followers of Capoeira from around
the globe. From beginner to pro all are welcome to
participate. Ginga!
Day 5
Ile Aiye Rehersal Tour (Optional)
Welcome to the house of Ile Aiye, the most popular Afro-Bloco
in Bahia. Listen to their chants in Yoruba as they sing
praise to the Orixas and fill the audience with the spirit
of Yemanja and Xango. Visit the music school where they
rehearse these prophetic lines of poetry and practice rhythm
pulsing percussion. Also, donate school supplies to the
children of Liberdade, the biggest neighborhood of African-decent
in the world. Everyone benefits from the spirit of
Ile Aiye. Axe!
Day 6
Gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins, but in Brazil the
churrascaria’s are pure fantasy. Choice cuts
of meats are delivered straight to your plate by numerous
waiters who are ready to serve to your stomachs content. Vegetarians
won’t be left out in the cold. The salad bars
are fully stocked with fresh and plentiful natural ingredients
to get your belly full. Fine dining will never be the
same after your churrascaria experience in Brazil.
Day 7
Have a day of adventure and bodysurf. Let Salvador’s
many surfistas be your guide. Tonight you will hit
Salvador’s most fashionable clubs. Hear the best
DJ’s from Salvador, Sao Paulo and the world who make
you move to the beat of Bahia…
Day 8
Spend the day at leisure as you say goodbye to your new
home. Take the time to purchase local crafts, jewelry
and some good cachaca for your journey back home.
